Troy Lee Designs 2013 D3 Helmets Now Available from BTO Sports
This week, Doc’s product of the week is the flagship D3 MTB full face helmet from Troy Lee Designs. These helmets, with their striking looks, deliver more than a fashion statement; they’re great protection and with different colorways to suit every rider out there. TLD offers two levels of their flagship D3 helmet, a composite shell and a full Carbon Fiber shelled helmet. Both helmets share the same mold but the different materials are used in the process. The top-of-the-line version features full-carbon construction for a significant weight savings, hitting the scale at just 2.3 pounds. The less-expensive composite version weighs 2.65 pounds. Both helmets feature 20 intake vents, dual-density shock pads, removable MX-style liners made from Coolmax and Dri-Lex materials and purpose-built internal cavities for your headphones. For safety, the helmet has quick-release cheek pads in the event that you require help from a paramedic.
While this helmet is NOT designed for motorized vehicles such as motocross bikes, this helmet shares a lot of technology with it’s MX brothers. Both D3 helmets go through stringent crash testing so you won’t damage your melon in a crash. Both helmets offer excellent comfort and great ventilation. In fact, when riding with either version, you can feel cool air being sucked over your dome. These helmets are way too beautiful and could be used as a nice piece of artwork on your wall. Every aspect of these helmets is flawless.. The edge goes to the carbon for the significant weight savings, but either is a perfect choice. No matter how fast you are, either one of these will make you feel like one of of the TLD team riders Cam Zink, Sam Hill or Shaun Palmer.
The Troy Lee Designs D3 helmets are now available from BTO Sports in a variety of colorways to match your style. Prices range from $450.00 for the Carbon Fiber shelled helmets, $395.00 for the Shaun Palmer replica and $375.00 for the composite shell models.
